98% of my students come from low income families. They live in a community where parents do their best to provide for their children but because of the lack of economic opportunities in their community many of my students lack needed supplies. In spite of these hardships, the parents encourage their children to focus on education. I teach science to six 8th grade classes with about 35 students in each class. My students love hands-on activities, projects, performances, and they work well in cooperative groups. They crave creativity; to use their hands, build, draw, and model. My students are highly motivated and they love to be challenged.
