My Students
My kids are mostly descendants from immigrants who don't have enough resources to have computers at home to fulfill school requirements from research projects and math games. My kids get so excited about computers, but we are short of computers and they can only take tests and work on their projects at a certain time. For research projects, due to computer shortage, they can only do research for 10 mins, and that is not enough time for kids that age. Only 20% of our kids are able to have computers at home to work on projects. The biggest chunk of researches goes on in my classroom. With so few computers, it is clear that we need at least one more. We have also, kids with special needs that require quite spaces to use technology so a laptop available will help them to work on our special quite space. A couple of laptops in our classroom can really improve my students learning effectiveness.
My Project
Nowdays we have a ton of new learning apps that kids love but have no access to them in the school. My school should have laptops and iPads available to every student in the classroom and that is my goal, to have a laptop or an iPad available to everybody so they can work in class in the way they actually need.
We all know that kids learn concepts in different ways, us teachers we call it differentiation.
One way that kids absolutely love to learn is by using technology like laptops and apps in iPads. In my classroom I have 2 laptops and my kids are begging for more. Learning can be fun and if they get excited about that, we as teachers should try to offer them learning that way.
A lot of my students come from households that have no chance to buy these devices and are eager to come to class to be able to use them. We already have some favorite free and awesome learning apps that we want to download and that recommended by other teachers. We can not wait to have a lot of laptops.
