My Students

My K2 students are energetic, inquisitive, and always ready for new classroom explorations. These twenty-two 5 and 6 year old students include English language learners, various cultural backgrounds, and varying abilities. My students love to move, read, build, and play and use these activities as a means to learn each day. They come to school every morning excited for the day ahead and have built their own classroom community on kindness, laughter, and a shared enthusiasm for school and each other.

Our school is an urban elementary school in the heart of Boston that educates a socioeconomically and ethnically diverse body of preK-5th grade students.

In line with our mission to provide each of our students the means to meet high standards and achieve their best, I want to ensure that my kindergarteners have the technological tools they need to explore the educational world around them.

My Project

My 5-6 year old students are growing up immersed in technology. In our classroom we write, read together and independently, and explore new ideas and topics on a daily basis. The addition of iPads to our classroom will allow my students the opportunity to learn and use technology to further their learning, their skills, and diversify the way in which they learn. This technology will help me to reach all of my students where they are and through different teaching methods by using these iPads as listening centers, for literacy and math activities, and for classroom research. By using iPads in the classroom for academic growth, my students will learn how to use technology responsibly and safely as well as more independently as they become lifelong learners in an increasingly technological world.
