Tech-Free Coding Robots for 2nd Graders

Help me give my students the MatataStudio Coding Robot set I can use to teach my students regular science, math, and literacy objectives without tech!

My Project

Welcome to our busy, curious second-grade classroom! My students are natural problem-solvers, creators, and collaborators who thrive when they can learn by doing. We love using tactile, screen-free tools that allow every child to participate equally, regardless of their prior experience with technology.

The Big Idea: Bringing STEAM to Life

We want to take our computer science learning a step further by breaking out of the traditional "tech box." I am requesting MatataStudio Artist and Musician add-on kits to transform our screen-free coding robots into tools for genuine artistic and musical expression.

The Artist Kit allows our robots to hold physical markers. Instead of just learning about geometric shapes, angles, and perimeter in a workbook, my students will write precise physical code to program their robots to draw perfect squares, triangles, and complex geometric patterns.

The Musician Kit introduces physical musical notation blocks. Students will apply their knowledge of patterns, sequencing, and rhythm to compose their own melodies, which the robot will physically play back.

By supporting this project, you are helping provide a deeply integrated, accessible STEAM experience. These add-on kits will help my second graders master geometry and measurement, explore musical literacy, and build resilience through "debugging" when a shape doesn't close or a song sounds out of tune. Best of all, it keeps our learning 100% hands-on and screen-free.
