This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love how eager my students are to learn and how they support one another as they grow as readers. In our classroom, students come with a wide range of strengths and needs, and I am committed to making sure each child gets the instruction they need to succeed. They are curious, hardworking, and capable—they just need the right tools and opportunities to reach their full potential.

To support this, I provide small group, differentiated literacy instruction through a structured literacy approach.

This method helps students master foundational reading skills in a systematic and explicit way, ensuring they build strong decoding, spelling, and comprehension skills. A laptop will be an essential tool in making this possible. It will allow me to quickly access student assessment data, organize flexible groups, and deliver targeted lessons based on each student’s specific reading needs.

With the laptop, I will be able to use digital literacy resources such as decodable texts, phonics activities, and comprehension tools aligned with structured literacy practices. It will also allow me to monitor student progress in real time and adjust instruction immediately, ensuring that every minute of small group time is purposeful and effective.

This resource will help create a more responsive and engaging learning environment where all students receive the personalized support they need to become confident, successful readers through a structured literacy framework.
