This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Coronavirus has had a surreal and life altering impact on everyone, but especially for children. They don't have a structure within which to place this once in lifetime experience.

All they want right now is a return to normal, to laugh with their friends at school, to sit at their desks and learn face to face with me, to just be kids.

But they can't, and we don't know when we will be able to again.

We have moved into the virtual classrooms pretty well. We are learning and adjusting, having TEAMS meetings, posting daily schedules, and communicating through various platforms. Curriculum is continuing. Reading lessons are taking place. Virtual field trips are introducing new concepts. Discussions happen over chats. Collaboration continues (after some little and large bumps in the virtual learning world).

My Project

iPads are tools my students can use to access learning platforms which are being used. These tools give students the most immediate path to information, assignments, classmates, and communication. Being able to connect is an essential skill for all my students in today's learning world and global marketplace.

In a time when we can't be physically together, iPads offer an opportunity for virtual connections.

With an iPad, a student who has a question can immediately reach out to me, or search other learning videos, or connect with classmates. Students can send work for review and get immediate feedback. Students can collaborate and work with groups, just like if they were in a physical classroom. Students can connect to the websites where work is posted. Students can participate in video conferencing for both lessons and group work.
