My students attend an urban public school in Oklahoma that serves grades 7 to 12. A full 85% of our students receive a free or reduced-price lunch. My students are lower middle class, and most are in single parent homes or live with grandparents. My students do not come with supplies and rely on the school for basic classroom needs.
My students are creative, thoughtful and inquisitive!
They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions!
We want our students to have equal access to resources despite our inability to provide this. My students want to learn, and we are responsible for providing the tools necessary to do so.
Professional development has become paramount in being successful at delivering lessons utilizing technology. The apps are key in engaging students into not only learning the content, but to deliver the content in a way that is does not involve typing in a Google Doc all the time.
SimpleK12 is an amazing website for teachers that provide online on demand as well as live PD opportunities for teachers to hone their skills in our now digital world.
I have attended some of the encore webinars as they become available; however, I am limited in what topic I can learn. With a membership to SimpleK12, I have access to over 46 topics with anywhere from 8-228 webinars per topic.
I have not received credit for the 10+ webinars that I have attended, because I am not a member. If I were a member, I could download the e-certificates and receive credit for the webinars that I have attended. Hopefully with your help, I will be able to become an even better teacher.
