This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 30 eager learners who are always ready to learn new things. They enjoy using technology to explore the world of knowledge available on the internet. They aspire to do and learn many new things when they are at school. They attend a low performing, inner-city Title I School, in which 100% of the students qualify for the free lunch program. Regardless of those socioeconomic issues, they always strive to access enriching learning experiences. Each day, they enter our school ready for a challenge and try to do their best work. The children feel excitement when they learn new things.

My Project

Your donations will help our extracurricular sports club. They will help our school's boys and girls softball team improve their hitting with the batting cage and pitching machine combo. When I look out the second story window of my classroom, I can see that the boys and girls work hard after school with Coach John to put together the best team they can. They practice with a bat hitting the ball on the school's baseball area as a team, but they do not get to hone in on their hitting skills. Therefore, I started to think, "What if the school's team had a batting cage?" They might be able to get individually tailored hitting instruction.

By getting one-on-one coaching to improve their hitting at the new batting cage, the School's team will surely hit better and have more fun in their weekend tournaments.

The school's team travels to other local Elementary schools to compete during the weekends. I do hope that the students and Coach John can find support within Donor's Choose to make this dream possible.
