This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Imagine a world of play, the kind of play that keeps children healthy and happy. Now imagine a school that has very limited play equipment for team sports, in fact almost no equipment at all. Imagine the difference three new sports teams can make!
We have a great team of teachers and staff that work long hours to provide an incredible comprehensive overall education to our students!
Many of our teachers and coaches put in their own time during and after school to have sports teams for our students. However, we are a title one school in a large urban city with very limited funds. We have limited equipment to play any team sports. Our school started a football team this year, and we would like to build an organized basketball team, tennis team, and soccer team.
My Project
This project will not only impact my students, but other students in the second, third, fourth, and fifth grades. Our school has been depleted of sports equipment due to budget cuts over the last few years. Our school has a few basketballs, soccer balls, and tennis racquets that have seen a lot of use, but it is this sparse equipment that has been used for games and training. Our sports equipment is very limited. Our supply is looking ragged and worn.
It has been a wonderful experience to see all types of students coming together to play!
The sports equipment will make a difference in bringing together special education students with general education students in a fun and competitive atmosphere.
