My students need yoga mats to work independently and cooperatively with newly learned yoga poses. A variety of picture books, cards, and sensory tools will guide students through yoga poses, meditation, and yoga adventures.
I am honored to work with an eager and energetic group of kindergarten students. We live in a small diverse community. My goal as a teacher has always been to create life long learners where they have all the tools necessary to be the best they can be. Students entering my classroom work together as a team to create, solve problems, and engage in learning each and every day.
Kindergarteners are AMAZING!
They are eager learners who want to know more about the world around them. I've taught them to wonder, ask questions, think critically, and assess their own learning. As a certified yoga instructor, I am also teaching them how to be mindful in their daily lives through yoga and meditation activities.
My Project
Yoga mats will provide my students opportunities to work cooperatively to learn new yoga poses in their own defined space. Yoga mats provide a safe surface for students to practice on in our classroom. Yoga books, cards, and sensory tools will enhance their learning all throughout the school year.
Yoga enhances flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness.
Yoga and mindfulness teaches students to understand their body, feelings, and thoughts in order to be focused and ready to learn. It also teaches students to manage stress through breathing, stretching, and guided meditation exercises which will increase students' positive self-image. Students will learn all of these skills on their new yoga mats!
