My Students

I am fortunate enough to teach first graders who are eager to learn and are at the forefront of learning to use technology. My school is a Title One School; over 70% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Many of my students are lacking life experiences that promote a rich vocabulary and experience with using technology as a skill.

As young students, they need instruction that is engaging and meaningful.

I work hard to create lessons that students can make connections to and further their understanding of the world around them and use in the future.

My Project

My project is to add OSMO some OSMO kits to my classroom. Starting with the Coding Awbie and Coding Jam. Coding is a 21st century skill that helps to practice problem solving, teamwork and critical thinking. With the Coding Awbie and Coding Jam students will be able to have new ways to explore, make music, and solve problems all while learning to work cooperatively with peers while having fun and using technology to learn a skill. I would also like to add the OMSO Little Genius Sticks and Rings to use with students who are receiving interventions for letters and sounds. Sticks and Rings will allow them the opportunity to see letters, build letters, work on fine motor skills, phonics, and vocabulary.

My hope through the addition of OSMO Coding Awbie and Coding Jam, and Little Genius Sticks and Rings, is to make learning a fun, engaging, and meaningful experience.
