My students need colored pencils, glue and scissors to complete tactile, hands-on projects. We also need a new easel and chart paper to keep our lesson learning in one place.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from a very low-income area in Springfield, MA. Our school is a Level 3 school in need of further resources regularly. I teach an abundance of ELL students who need very hands-on language experiences. All students receive free lunch and breakfast each day. Despite many hardships, students come eager to learn and grow each day. I would like to give them the tools they need to succeed every day. With such diverse backgrounds, the classroom is a place where all of my students can feel at home.
My Project
The new classroom easel and chart paper will be used every day during our writing lessons to brainstorm about new genres, create graphic organizers, and model exemplary work. Students will be able to display their thinking in this area of the classroom on a regular basis. We will also be able to store materials such as our magnetic letters and writing texts. All of the wheels have fallen off our old easel, and a new one will allow us to move it around the classroom when necessary as well.
The colored pencils, scissors and glue sticks will allow students to work on tactile projects on a regular basis.
During math and science we regularly complete interactive notebooks to model concrete learning in topics such as fractions, and these supplies will make it a smoother process. Students will no longer have to wait for their resources, and will be able to store their materials in our classroom bins. These supplies will give my students the opportunity to apply their learning every day.
