My Students
My students face so many challenges, but they realize that education is the vehicle to drive them towards a more promising future. With so many issues, it is my mission as their educator, to take them away and rescue them from their pressing worries through the joys of meaningful experiences and exposure to what life has to offer.
Our school is one hundred percent poverty stricken with only one other in the state of South Carolina.
We don't take this rank as an excuse to have a pity party, but rather as a means of motivation. We strive to plant seeds of hope and reassure the students that education is the key that unlocks the doors of opportunity and future success.
By understanding that there is more to life than what meets the eye, it is my belief that my students will do what it takes to beat the odds, defy the statistics and embrace the world of education and all it has to offer.
My Project
In today's society, children need to learn how to be better people. They need to learn how to express empathy and accept those that are different instead of shaming other people or excluding them.
We need to raise a generation of children that appreciate and express tolerance and acceptance.
Thus, my class needs a class set of the novel Wonder. This novel is a riveting story of a little boy with facial deformities and his first experience attending school in the fifth grade. So many children make fun of him or shy away from him because he is different. I want my students to learn from Auggie's experience of being different and seeing how he handled himself. There is so much to learn from this amazing novel. Please consider blessing my students with this amazing experience of learning tolerance and acceptance.
