My Project
With students returning from COVID they are re-learning to communicate, engage, and enjoy coming to school again. When students returned from COVID they were much more introverted, socially awkward, and less willing to take risks and leadership roles in front of their peers. I want to help teach the whole child and help these students build stronger Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills to help them become more confident and comfortable in the school environment.
I want to engage the students in a variety of activities to help them with their social-emotional learning by promoting a series of lessons focusing on their soft skills(interpersonal (people) skills, communication skills, listening skills, problem-solving, leadership, and empathy).
I ordered some art supplies to encourage students' creativity and help with their empathy by creating products for themselves and to give to others such as tissue paper, ribbon and rope, cotton balls, scratch-off paper, goggly eyes, mini clothes pen, and origami. I ordered some board games to help students communicate with each other and build problem-solving skills such as Uno, Trouble, Sorry, and Connect 4. I ordered some basic school supplies such as easel chart paper, card stock, erasers, pencils, dry erase sticker paper, magnetic clips, magnetic curtain rods, and magnetic bookshelf to help students with the classroom learning environment to promote group work and learning in an interactive learning environment to help engage students with the lessons. I ordered outdoor supplies such as an outdoor pull wagon to help carry all the supplies to the upper field for various outdoor activities and the PE equipment, cones, soccer balls, a ball pump, and a velcro catch and throw balls to help promote problem-solving skills, communication, and listening skills. I ordered celebration supplies for a fun reward glow day and birthday celebrations to promote our SEL skills.
