Help me give my students LEGO Machine kits so they understand how to program and code.
Our school is a Title I school with low-income families. Almost all of our students qualify for free lunch and many families live below poverty level. A large number of our children are second language learners. Our small town does not have many jobs for the population. We have one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the nation. Only thirteen percent of our population has a Bachelor's degree, in comparison to the national average of thirty-four percent.
My students are born into an environment with so many obstacles, but they come to school and are eager to learn daily.
I grew up in a large family in a less desirable neighborhood and went to college because I had teachers who believed in me. I put one hundred and ten percent into teaching my students skills they will need for the future because I see the potential in each of them. They are so bright, polite, and have good attitudes when they walk through the door. They deserve a chance at the best education because they have the capability to break stereotypes. My students are resilient. Although they do not come from wealthy families, they demonstrate a drive to succeed.
My students need these LEGO Kits so they have opportunities to see how they can link engineering with Technology. They can use these kits to program and code their creations with iPads. My students need these LEGO sets in order to compete with children with higher socio-economic backgrounds. These kits will open up a world of opportunity for my low-income students.
Please give my students an opportunity to program and code with education LEGO kits that their families will never be able to afford for them.
It is such an important skill for children to have in the future, but we do not have any materials to support this skill at the moment. Your contribution will truly be benefiting children from the most unfortunate backgrounds.
