My students need to know the essentials of math to be successful in financial literacy. I want to create a center where children can read about math concepts and enjoy learning. When children are comfortable, their minds are ready to learn. I am requesting for bean bags for children to read in. I want to create a math library/center in my room, equipped with board games, math books, and inviting bookshelves so children can have a wide selection of manipulatives to learn with. They will LOVE and want to come to this center to learn about how money works with games such as "The Allowance Game" and "Making Cents Money Game" and they will get to brush up on their math skills. The shelves will also encourage children to work independently at the math center because they allow the books to face the children so they can see the titles. The beanbags will encourage them to stay in the center for longer periods because they will feel comfortable while they read. Financial literacy does not need to be boring. Help my children want to gain these important skills. These supplies will allow us to create a financial literacy center our classroom where children can go and learn about math concepts such as adding and subtracting, problem solving, number sense, comparing numbers, and fractions. These skills will provide a strong foundation for being financially stable. My students will be able to relax in an inviting center and choose a math activity or book off the shelf. Reading and math correlate and go hand-in-hand. These items will allow me to create an environment that boosts their knowledge of number concepts and reading. A win-win for financial literacy!
