Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The teachers who work within my school district want to learn everything possible! Our schools are Title I schools with free or reduced-price lunches for all students. More than a quarter of our students are ELLs (English language learners) who do not have English as a first language. Math has always been a subject that my students have negative feelings about until they come into my classroom. The community that we build changes their perspective.

My Project

Our Math Department will be putting together a half-day conference for a K-8 teachers. The teachers will be able to choose sessions that will benefit them the most to take ideas and activities back to their classrooms to continue to support students throughout the school year. Some sessions that are offered is "Making Math Fun Again" and "Navigating Groups of Students". These sessions focus on having students work together in groups and solve math work together! These whiteboard clipboards would be great tools for teachers to use during the sessions by writing notes and showing their work on the backside during the sessions. Making these sessions all about the students is the focus!
