My Students

Seeing is believing! Reading the Titanic and picturing the traumatic event is heart wrenching; however, seeing a re-enactment makes one realize the blessings of his or her life.

The 5th grade students at our school love reading and especially love doing hands-on activities.

Our community has a high unemployment rate due to the economic conditions in our area. However, this does not bring our students down. They are still eager to learn new concepts and skills. What better way than to give them a hands-on experience that will stay with them forever?

My Project

Our project is aimed at providing a real-life experience of the Titanic. This would be the perfect Thanksgiving holiday activity that would enlighten them about diverse cultures and give them knowledge about the horrific event. They will use different skills before and after the field trip, such as map skills, scale the Titanic by the dimensions, and learn about water temperature. After returning from our trip, we will do writings and discuss the meaning of Thanksgiving, just before the Thanksgiving break.

Your assistance will make it possible to provide my students with a day learning about an historic event that took the lives of many.
