This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a combination of 2nd and 3rd-grade classrooms of gifted children. The students in my gifted classroom are able to process information at a higher level than most students their age.

In my classroom, we focus on exposure to science and math-based job opportunities, STEM projects, hands-on lessons, and project-based learning.

The students in my class need fewer repetitions than most kids their age need to master information, so we are able to move at a faster pace than their grade-level peers.

My Project

My gifted and talented students meet after school three times a week and would like to learn how to play the strategy game of chess. We need boards to be able to teach theses bright students the skills they need to compete with each other. We had a guest speaker lined up to come into our room and teach us the ins and outs of the game... all we are missing are the boards and pieces! My students will be thrilled to be able to hold chess tournaments and showcase their strategy and problem-solving skills with their gifted and talented peers.
