Teaching Social Emotional Learning From a Distance Online During COVID-19
Help me give my students a better distance learning experience with additional resources like sticky chart paper, white boards and markers that I will use to use to teach social emotional learning skills from my home online.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Currently, we are using remote online distance learning platforms to continue to teach our students academics and social emotional development skills. At this time it is especially critical that we help guide students to express their emotions, continue to learn self regulation and problem solving strategies so that they can cope with the wide range of strong feelings they are experiencing in these unprecedented times.
Our students continue to learn from their homes through online remote distance learning during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Many of the younger students rely on the family device to connect to a virtual meeting. Although I can pre-record lessons and also try to do live lessons I am limited to the pre-made resources I was able to bring home to teach remotely. I would like to be able to write notes or draw pictures on large chart paper and use a white board to write their responses to discussions, write/draw skills we are working to develop and guide them in using at home so they can use calming strategies.
My Project
School buildings may be closed but that most definitely does NOT mean that the learning has stopped. We continue to be creative and work hard to reach our students on a daily basis during this pandemic crisis. We can't stop the learning! I will continue to teach remotely online through distance learning platforms given some pre made materials (a few posters and picture cards) but having these additional resources will allow me to be more creative and write notes/draw pictures that will help facilitate discussion of situations and skills practice.
Students learn well through visuals and having these materials will help me enhance teaching social emotional skills that are vital especially during this time.
I will use the chart paper, markers and white boards to write/draw specific strategies we use for self regulation such as calming space, mindful breathing, movement, yoga, and additional specific skills we are learning/guiding students to use/apply at home.
