This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students in my classroom are diverse in ethnicity, economics, and academics. We are a Title I, dual-language (Spanish and Vietnamese) school in a busy Seattle neighborhood. My students speak a variety of languages including Spanish, Vietnamese, Cambodian, Somali, among others. However, one common denominator is that they all work hard and want more. They want more knowledge, they love to learn! In order to do that, they need the materials that can help them be successful and WANT to continue to be lifelong learners.

My Project

My dream for my students is for them to have more opportunities. I know math and financial literacy skills can do this for them! I want them to want more, work for more, and do more.

I am asking for two important texts for me to study in my own time and share these instructional strategies within my math class with my first grade students in order to learn basic math skills and financial literacy.

I am asking for a write and wipe number line to share when working with them on certain skills and some drill practice boards along with two incredible texts to push us forward.

The texts and resources requested would enable me to learn more and do more for my little mathematicians, I cannot wait to share what I learn with them!
