My classroom is an add on classroom to an over crowded first grade cohort. We began with not much and we’ve been trying to add on as possible. However, Carpet Time has been uncomfortable and lacking excitement. We have no Rug to sit down at. Instead, bright blue duck tape outlines the area on the floor in which we come together to share ideas, read stories, and think. A carpet/rug which brightly outlines this space, and each individual student’s own space, would be more beneficial for our first grader both academically and physically. They will also take more pride in their classroom and the work we do on the “Magic Carpet”.
