This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Middle School Inclusion teacher to a wonderful group of 6th graders! In my District, 98% of the students receive free daily breakfast and lunch. The students in the classes I teach are a mixture of Special Education, High-needs learners and non-native English speakers. My students were on Virtual Instruction beginning March of 2019 until this September of 2021! I want to be able to provide them with the opportunity to learn in a less stressful environment and make it fun! It is important to me as a teacher, that partner with my students to reach their target goals! We need to be able to provide them with what they need to have a successful year!!!

My Project

This project will give my students to opportunity to learn the basics of money management, saving, debt, and giving as they begin on an early journey to understand how to use money. The students will create scenarios in the classroom involving how to make real-life responsible choices, as well as learning percentages regarding loans. The Math games requested will review fractions, decimals, and integers. A very important aspect of financial literacy will be teaching the students how to manage their paychecks. When my students practice good financial choices, it boosts their chances for creating a foundation for positive future financial successes.
