Over the years, I have taught students that have cried when presented with a book to read. Throughout the early years of their life, they have relied on adults to give them the information they need to be successful. Now, they are growing and becoming more independent, but they don't have the reading skills to navigate alone. According to the description provided by Lakeshore, the books I have requested "will feature full-color photos and simple text that's entirely made up of sight-words and rebus pictures". Because these books cover so many Fiction and Non-Fiction topics, the students will have multiple opportunities to choose books about their interests. Also, these topics may be taught throughout the day, and will provide good background knowledge. These books are just what I have been looking for!
