My Students

I teach two period of English 2 (10th graders) and three periods of English 3 (11th graders). I teach standard English classes. Roughly 65 percent of my students are reading below grade level. I have several students who are English Language Learners or have IEPs or 504 plans.

My students are incredibly willing learners.

They have a desire to succeed and excel in my English class even if they typically struggle with reading and writing. My goal is to give them the confidence to realize they have the ability to be successful in English.

My Project

My 10th grade classes will be reading To Kill a Mockingbird for our "Moving Towards Justice" unit. It would greatly help to have a class set of this novel in mint condition as I will be using this novel for many years to come.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic American work of literature and is a great text to teach empathy.

I currently have two classes of 10th grade students, so a class set of 30 books would reach 60 students this year. However, this number would greatly increase over the next few years as I continue to teach it.
