Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 7th and 8th graders that are returning to school this fall during a global pandemic.They are an amazing group of students that have their whole lives ahead of them and need their own supplies to stay safe throughout this school year. They come from the same area that I grew up in, and it is highly Hispanic in population and very economically disadvantaged. Most students live in overpopulated apartment complexes where their parents are barely making ends meet to support them. Their parents struggle with putting food on the table and buying them the necessary supplies for school especially now that many people are not working. These students do not need to worry about being able to afford school supplies or safety supplies they should focus on learning and being the best person they can be so that they can grow and succeed.
My Project
These supplies and resources will allow my students to be able to socially distance themselves as well as be able to learn and succeed while we are in the classroom during a pandemic. The supplies will allow all my students too feel safe and secure as they will all have their own individual bags and space provided to them so that they can have a safe space. These supplies will all go into a personal supply bag that each student will have so that no item is shared. The Teachers Pay Teachers gift cards will be used to buy highly educational resources that will allow me to teach my students in the classroom as well as online.
