This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you think back to some of your favorite classes in grade school, many of you probably thought back to art class. Art provides many opportunities for self-expression, creative thinking, and social development. I would love to begin the school year off with brand new supplies for my students.

I teach first grade at a Title 1 school in Phoenix, Arizona.

It is a small school with a fantastic variety of students from many different backgrounds. Our dedicated staff is close knit and works as a team to provide the best education that we can to each one of our individual students. Although the majority of our students come to school excited to learn and anxious to participate, most of our students come to school without the basic tools necessary for learning. With budgets becoming more restricted every year, it is increasingly difficult to obtain the funds necessary to purchase new materials.

My Project

My students need a variety of basic art supplies to get them through the year. There are so many different projects that we will be able to accomplished through your generosity. I would like them to have the opportunity to draw, color, paint, and become inspired by art. You can have a real impact on the growth and learning of the children attending our school. Your support will provide these students with the tools they need to continue arts education.

Art can be used to enhance learning across all subject areas.

My students are engaged in reading, social studies, math, and science lessons through art. Having these basic classroom materials will make an impact in learning by engaging students and providing them with a healthy outlet of expression and creativity.
