My Students
I am a first-grade teacher at a K-3 school in southern Maine. The school that I work at has a diverse community of learners with a wide range of financial security. Located in close proximity to a naval base, we have a large population of military families, so roster changes throughout the school year are frequent. Our school works hard to be a place where the needs of all students are met, and we are invested in helping children to be caring and well-rounded learners.
I love the energy and enthusiasm that each of my first graders brings to our classroom.
Along with that energy comes a unique personality and learning style. I work hard to get to know each of my students and to find different ways to help them do their best learning in my classroom each day.
My Project
I don't know yet what the start of school will look like, but that hasn't stopped me from trying to prepare! I am in the process of creating binders for each of my students. In the binders, I plan to put games and activities to practice math, reading, and word work skills that students can use again and again. If distance learning becomes necessary, these binders will go home with my students.
One piece of feedback we received from parents after finishing last school year remotely was that they would have liked more options for student learning that wasn't online.
I would love to have a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card as there are so many amazing resources created by teachers that I can add to student binders, providing students with different ways to practice skills.
