Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In my class, I teach a diverse and enthusiastic group of learners. Because of their diversity, I want to be able to provide my students with essential materials and resources to help them be successful and meet their variety of learning needs. Many of my students come from low-income families and various cultural backgrounds. Many of my students will also be a part of a family of non- English speaking families, with half of those learning English as a second language themselves. I also have a variety of special education students in my class.
I want to instill a love of learning through multiple modalities and engaging learning experiences.
To do this, I will have many large group lessons and activities that will promote collaboration, active listening, and interactive learning. Through my teaching experience, I have seen students get excited about plants and animals, engage in reading centers and different literacy opportunities, and use different manipulatives and strategies to engage in critical thinking to solve math problems. These kids deserve everything the world has to offer and I am excited and determined to give them everything they need to be successful.
My Project
By supporting the purchase of a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card, I am able to better differentiate my instruction to meet the needs of all the students in my classroom. The greatest need that this resource will provide is resources and materials to support my ELL students. My students need things like picture dictionaries, picture cards, and other visual supports to support their learning. I am also hoping to purchase materials to support the students in my classroom who receive special education support and need addition accommodations like visual schedules, positive reinforcement, and task breakdown cards. Teachers Pay Teachers is a wonderful resource that provides high quality materials that will support all of the learners in my classroom.
