My \"Enthusiastic Readers\" were given a chance to enjoy reading new books. Each day, I was able to read one of the books as a read-aloud. \r\n\r\n Our Interactive Read Aloud time was one of our favorite times of the day. I used this time to incorporate different reading skills/ strategies into my read-aloud. Students had an opportunity to identify the character(s) and setting(s) in each book. They could retell the story by using major key details. Also, students could compare and contrast different books that were previously read to them. This was a fun time where the students and I could have a great conversation about the book and the details in it.\r\n\r\n During my reading block, you will hear or see students reading books or poems aloud with a partner. You will also see a few students silently reading independently. Some students would be drawing a picture and writing a sentence about their book. On the back of their Weekly Reader, students can complete the activity with their family.\r\n\r\nFor the beginning of the school year, students have been learning routines and procedures for the classroom. The Scholastic Weekly Reader for this week focused on what happens when students arrive to school each morning. The magazine gave my students a refresher when it came to remembering our morning routines. \r\n\r\nIn my classroom, you will hear and see motivated learners working as a collaborative team. Many of them couldn't stop smiling as they explored the room, pointing out their favorite decorations and cozy corners.\r\n\r\nParents were equally moved by the setup. Several families commented on how warm, calming, and student-centered the classroom felt. The sensory tiles you provided have truly transformed how my students engage with their environment. The moment the tiles were unboxed, their eyes lit up with curiosity and joy. They immediately wanted to touch, step on, and explore each tile, it was as if they had discovered a new world beneath their feet.\r\n\r\nOne of the most memorable moments so far was during our sensory exploration time. A student who typically struggles with transitions became completely focused as he walked across the tiles, watching the colors shift and feeling the textures under his shoes. It was a calming and regulating experience for him, and it allowed for a smoother transition into our next activity. The sensory tiles have become a daily part of our routine, whether we're using them for movement breaks, emotion regulation, or simply joyful exploration, they've quickly become one of the most loved features in the classroom.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to incorporate the sensory tiles into our lessons on color recognition, spatial awareness, and even early science concepts like cause and effect. These tiles are more than just a classroom tool. They're a bridge to learning, regulation, and inclusion. Thank you for giving my students the gift of meaningful sensory experiences. My classroom is project based and the students use the computer to complete most of their projects. Our issue was we only had a black and white printer for our classroom. The students would be disappointed because they would put so much effort into their projects online, but everyone else wasn't able to see all the details because we could only do black and white. Additionally, some times I would need to print out handouts for my smaller students to complete a project online but they couldn't fully understand because my expectations were one thing but their visual was in black and white.\r\n\r\nStudents now have color images of their work hanging in the classroom and hallways and have so much joy and pride being able to see their work in color. The students have also had an opportunity to be able to plug their devices into the printer and learn how to print from their computer as well, something that they weren't doing before because our school computer is on a network and only adults have access to it.\r\n\r\n All of the students have benefited from using the printer. They have been able to print out certificates when finishing a lesson, print color pictures to add to their projects, and see a display of students working in the classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1736269593601,"projectUrl":"project/computer-science-in-color-with-a-color-p/9015631/","projectTitle":"Computer Science in Color with a color printer","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nakeia Barber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1887303_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752083073318","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1887303"},{"teacherId":9789193,"projectId":8853050,"letterContent":"My students and I can't express how thankful we are for our new resources!
