My students can describe themselves! Our first project of the year was called The One Word Project, and the first step was to pick one word that describes you best. This is harder than it seems and requires a lot of thought! As we have grown as a classroom community, I have seen my students embody the words they chose for the project. Some of the words they chose were courageous, tenacious, caring, determined, confident, focused, curious, generous, friendly, and fair.
Despite the challenges presented by virtual learning, my students have been showing up, giving their best effort, and being honest about what they need to succeed.
They love to learn, be silly, laugh, read aloud to one another, and share their opinions about what we learn. They are wonderful ten-year-olds who are doing their best.
My Project
This project would provide me with a $100 gift card to Teachers Pay Teachers. This would allow me to purchase digital resources for my students that would enrich our virtual classroom. I plan to purchase engaging social studies units as well as enriching ELA materials to supplement our current lessons!
Having access to the amazing resources created by teachers around the world would create new possibilities for my students to learn and grow in the 5th grade.
Not only will the resources purchased with this gift card benefit my students, but I plan on learning from these resources so that I can create even more enriching activities for my students going forward.
