Help me give my students yoga mats and blocks for their social and emotional wellness. We hope to use these resources to lead meditation and yoga classes at recess and in an after school program.
My class is a very diverse bunch that love to learn! They love to learning new things through reading, experimenting, and field studies. They thrive in environments that allow movement, collaboration, and group work. This group is an intricate group of learners that come from a variety of households and have many learning challenges. They include kids from low economic homes, some have autism, learning disabilities, anxiety, depression or ADD. To meet them within our class you would just consider them hard working fantastic kids.
I have worked very hard to build empathy and teamwork within our class's culture.
At times, this requires new curriculum and materials that come out of my pocket because I have already used up my stipend. Hopefully, with the help of Donors Choose, we can get the materials to aide in our program to help students with their social emotional wellness.
My Project
My teaching partner and I have just completed a 200 hour yoga meditation and mindfulness certification, our goal is to use the yoga mats and blocks to begin our wellness classes for our staff and students. This donation would enable us to get the much needed materials to start helping our students and staff learn the much needed strategies to regulate their emotions, primarily stress and anxiety, with the positive self care tools of yoga, meditation and social emotional learning that is absent in our current public educational system. Please help us get started in leading our community to wellness.
