Teachers for Tranquility My students need skills to manage their emotional health in order to navigate this crazy world. My Students We are teachers in San Jose, CA and are saddened to see children and families who are stressed out, depressed, or anxious every day. We give them all of the love and attention we can muster, but it never seems to be enough. Mental health services have been cut in schools all over the state, but in our school of 860 children, we do not have a school psychologist and have only one counselor. Roughly one-third of our population have documented depression, anxiety, or attention problems and are unable to access or afford helpful services. My Project As we have brainstormed how to help children and families with struggles of anxiety, depression, and ADHD, we came across the Breathe for Change program. This training is a 200-hour program that focuses on training teachers how to help enhance classroom learning environments to nurture children's social and emotional health, develop positive school-wide programs to help these students, and to train teachers how to cope and handle these tough situations. In order, to get this program up and running we are in need of some specific supplies. These yoga mats would allow us to start this vital program!
