This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My middle school serves underserved students in a Hispanic neighborhood in southwest Dallas. Many of my students come from lower-income families and have parents who don't speak English.

These students do not have access to many resources, so I need to provide my own.

My students are eager to learn and hope to succeed in life, but they cannot support their teachers with the necessary supplies such as expo markers, sticky notes, and erasers. Every year it becomes more clear to me what low income their families survive on.

My Project

I am running short of supplies. I have spent lots of my own money over the years. I am trying to stop that by creating this project. I specifically need basics such as Expo Markers, sticky notes and erasers. I have not refilled my supply since last year and need more to keep my classroom going.

Since I am paid so little, it would be great to have financial support to have the supplies I need.

The students and parents I have contact with are not available to assist with supplies. I have given lots of them away. Our school does not provide enough of these materials to last the entire school year.
