My Students

I teach in a Title I, public elementary school with about five hundred students. Many students are eager to learn and interact daily at school; however, COVID-19 has stopped our engagement with students. I hope that through DonorsChoose, we can offer as much personal attention to each child's needs as possible.

My students are sweet and full of potential, but the poverty level is high, with one hundred percent of our population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Nevertheless, my school tries very hard to afford all students the same opportunities no matter what social or economic situations may exist in their lives. All students are offered free breakfast, and we have a teacher-student mentoring program that attends to the primary students' social-emotional needs.

Personally, I take time to get to know each child in my classroom as a whole person. My goal throughout the year is to understand their academic strengths and weaknesses and their character strengths and weaknesses. I love being their friend, teacher, and, hopefully, a role model.

My Project

As a teacher, I am always looking for new ways to improve my craft. These books will help create better lessons and experiences for the children I serve. Rather it be in an English Language Arts class or in a gifted and talented program it is my job to ensure that I am meeting the academic needs of each and every student I teach.

These resources will not only provide a variety of lessons and activities for my students, it will better me as an educator.

These books will take my teaching to an entirely new level and create a life long love of learning in both my students and myself.
