This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are quite extraordinary! This year I'm working exceptionally hard with an ICT class split into two separate classrooms. Yes, you heard that right, I'm teaching fourth grade in two separate classrooms. My students are learning how to cope in these crazy times and doing a phenomenal job at it! Even though we are all not together this year, it's great to get to see everyone online. My students are really lovely kids—hardworking, funny, and bright. They live in a disadvantaged community, where resources are scarce and teachers have to work really hard to acquire supplies and plan enrichment activities.
My students do their best to comply with all that we require of them, which means a large amount of test prep and a small amount of recess.
As their teacher, I owe it to them to try to bring fun and creativity to our school year to the best of my ability. Many of my students have special needs, ranging from learning differences to emotional disturbances, and it's important to me to make learning fun and enjoyable for them.
My Project
Please help us to replace our antiquated classroom computer with the space-saving all-in-one computer. Our one and only classroom computer is from 2014 and is extremely slow and malfunctions on a regular basis.
It can be extremely challenging to motivate my students that struggle academically.
I will use the computer to connect to our classroom SMARTboard for interactive and engaging lessons. Right now I really cannot use our SMARTboard because the computer constantly crashes and today's students are more engaged when they work with electronic media.
A new, FULLY FUNCTIONING computer would give my students access to so many beneficial apps and would allow for more opportunities for student collaboration in completing research assignments. This computer would also be an important tool in allowing me to create new learning materials and vital visual supports in a timely manner, and would be extremely helpful in keeping my enormous amounts of files organized and easily accessible.
