My Students

I have the privilege to teach third grade Math to a wonderful group of diverse and unique students. I have been a 3rd grade teacher for 8 years. I love the chance to be able to make a difference in a student's life and watch the grow as learners. Most of my students come from low-economic households where students are being raised by grandparents and other family members due to the opioid epidemic.

Third graders are very curious and eager to learn new things and as a Math teacher, I take this nature curiosity and apply it to my classroom by engaging my students in hands on learning environment.

My students are more successful when they are excited about their learning.

My Project

I want to attend Teach Your Heart Out in Virginia this summer so I can learn new and innovative classroom strategies that will engage my students in learning. I want to be able to connect with other educators so we can share ideas and build a network. In doing this I will be able to bring back new and exciting ideas into my classroom and my school to share with my colleagues.

My students will benefit from this professional development because I will be able to use the research based strategies I will learn from this conference in my classroom.
