This project brought learning outside and gave our students the chance to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a hands-on and engaging way.\r\nOne of the most exciting elements was using technology like digital cameras and tablets to document our bug hunts, nature discoveries, and STEAM experiments. Many of our students had never used technology in this way before—rather than just playing games, they were capturing photos of insects, recording their observations, and even sharing their discoveries with classmates. It was learning through exploration and collaboration!\r\n\r\nOne student, who's usually quiet during lessons, became completely engaged while using a tablet to zoom in on a bug and excitedly shared what she saw with the class. Another group of students worked together to photograph their sun prints and describe the science behind how light and shadow created their designs. These tools helped them become confident scientists, artists, and storytellers.\r\n\r\nYour donation has given our students more than just supplies—it has given them the tools to explore, ask questions, and see themselves as learners in a much bigger world. Through interactive lessons, games, and hands-on activities, students learned to identify coin values, understand the difference between wants and needs, and practice making simple financial choices. Using real-world scenarios tailored for young learners, they explored how saving and spending work together, building essential math and critical thinking skills in the process.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part was watching students apply what they learned through role-play activities like running a classroom coffee shop, setting up a market, and organizing a toy store. These experiences gave them the opportunity to use coins, make purchases, give change, and even \"save up\" for items—all while reinforcing their math and social skills. The grant brought real-world learning into the classroom and gave my students a sense of independence, responsibility, and confidence with everyday financial concepts.","fullyFundedDate":1728006035444,"projectUrl":"project/saving-spending-with-sense/8793792/","projectTitle":"Saving & Spending with Sense","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dunbar","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7954545_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723513187969","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7954545"},{"teacherId":9715856,"projectId":8718405,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our preschoolers are now exploring their creativity in a whole new way!
