Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-year teacher, I would truly appreciate the materials I am requesting to ensure my students have a positive classroom environment. The materials I am requesting already have a spot set in the classroom. We just need your support to allow those materials to be placed in their designated spots. The supplies will be used to create a calm corner. The green rug will be placed in a corner with a blue beanbag. The balls, sensory bottles, and books will help students take control of their feelings. I want students to have a safe space in the classroom where they can acknowledge their feelings and find ways to cope. In addition, the timers will be used to help students know how much time they have left to complete their work. The round cushions will provide students with flexible seating. Flexible seating helps student focus and be self-aware. It also promotes higher order thinking skills.

I had the opportunity to meet my students early November.

My students had various substitutes before I was hired. Therefore, it is very important for me to ensure we build a classroom community with materials that will promote educational success.
