Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach in a Title I, public elementary school with about 500 students. My students come from very low income communities. Many students are eager to learn and interact daily at school; however, COVID-19 has put a stop to our engagement with students. It is my hope that through DonorsChoose, we can offer as much personal attention to each child's needs as possible.

This will be the first time some of my tiger cubs will be in a classroom environment and they are excited to come back!

My students are new learners and full of potential, but the poverty level is high with 100% of our population qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch.

Personally, I take time to get to know each child in my classroom as a whole person. My goal throughout the year is to understand their academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as their character strengths and weaknesses. I love being their friend, teacher, and hopefully a role model.

My Project

This project is designed to give students in Atlanta the opportunity to have a wonderful experience in their own communities.

Students that have good behavior and academic success will be able to enjoy tasty treats to celebrate their accomplishment.

This project includes all the wonderful things needed to enjoy a day of fun and tasty treats including a hotdog machine, and a chocolate fondue pot. We want to encourage students to keep up the good work and reach for the stars. By providing students with this opportunity we hope to achieve more academic success, as well as developmentally appropriate behavior.
