This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our Pre-Kindergarten program has a mixture of bilingual, English learners and low-income students. With a total of 72 students enrolled, there is definitely a mixture of personalities, backgrounds, and abilities. However, they are always eager to learn and challenge themselves in everything they do. They love to play and explore the world around them. They are a fun loving group of 4-5-year-olds.

I teach at a school that provides free breakfast and free or reduced-price lunch to all their students.

My Project

Our Pre-K students attend music class once in a two week period. Music is needed in our classrooms and that’s why I am requesting these materials. These requested rhythm sticks will foster listening skills in our little 4-5 years olds. They will help their coordination skills and body identification. The rhythm sticks along with the cd will help in developing the students motor skills whenever in use. These materials will allow all three Pre-K teachers to reinforce skills like loud/soft, fast/slow, up/down, colors, numbers and will be used during instruction time to teach the alphabet names and sounds. The rhythm sticks will help all these skills in a meaningful and fun play based way in which our 4-5 year old students thrive and learn best in. Help us bring in music into our classroom to help enrich instruction.
