This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of diverse, middle school, sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. We are at a Title l school. Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic background. I strive to have my classroom accessible and equitable, but that becomes a challenge when resources are limited.

My students are current and future scientists who are excited to learn about the world around them through curiosity, observation, data collection, and application.

My students are all eager to learn and make self-discoveries in science. They come to school knowing that it's a safe place where they can create meaningful connections with their peers and teachers. They come with little to no background knowledge of the science content, but they are willing and strive to soak up all the knowledge that is presented to them. My students are wonderful young men and women who are ready to take on the world.

My Project

In science, we use glue for students' interactive notebooks. But I am noticing that the pages don't stick as well as tape. I am trying to order enough for my students and to replace the rolls whenever they run out. Students have given me feedback that they prefer tape than glue when putting in notetakers or interactive organized in their notebooks. We also have a planned end of the year project, which is the marble roller coaster. This project uses a considerable amount of tape given that I have 150-180 students and they are working together to build, test, and collect data on a functional paper roller coaster. We would like to be prepared for this project.
