Title I means that 40% or more of the students are at poverty level.
Many of my students come from struggling, busy working families. They often come to school without even the basic supplies needed for the classroom.
Sometimes grades are not enough of a motivator for the younger students to do well. They need encouragement and praise in other ways. I implement a positive reinforcement plan for students who are doing their best. They are paid on a daily basis with play money for their outstanding efforts.
My Project
The items that I have requested are to motivate my students to give their 100%. I will use the stickers for outstanding work on their papers. I have a bi-weekly classroom store where I put out items, pencils, and small toys, for them to purchase with their hard earned classroom money. They learn that working hard pays off, and they get a chance to count their money and make economic choices on what they want to do with their classroom pay.
