My Project

Snacks are important to growing students, and teachers are asked regularly if they have any snacks available to their forever-hungry students. Often teachers are required to spend hundreds, if not thousands, of their own money to fill this student need. Taming the high school hungries is essential.

Hungry students cannot learn.

When a student asks a teacher for something to eat, it is difficult to refuse. Teachers are not often made aware of food insecurity issues in students' homes. While many districts provide free breakfasts and lunches, often it is not enough to satisfy our hungry students. We have no way of knowing if their next meal won't be until breakfast the next day.

Please help me provide a variety of healthy snacks for my students so that when they ask if I have anything they can snack on, I have a generous supply.

Mrs. Nix will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 31.
