My Students
My students are energetic, creative, and enthusiastic about learning. We are a school of dedicated staff led by a visionary principal. Each day is a new day to inspire our students to learn and grow.
My students experience music from many cultures through singing, movement, and playing instruments.
I help connect our classroom musical experiences to their daily lives so the learning in our classroom extends beyond the classroom walls. I look forward to their continued growth throughout this school year!
My Project
My students love playing percussion instruments. They are so accessible and fun to play, and they also teach valuable skills for musical learning. Through experimenting with beat and rhythm, students learn the building blocks for playing more complex instruments as they move through music class.
Tambourine is a great instrument for practicing more complex rhythms.
Tambourines are often used for accenting the "off-beat," or the unstressed part of the musical beat. This is tricky for students to grasp right away, but the similarity between clapping and playing tambourine (or the simplified jingle stick) supports building that skill. Before long, I can get a whole classroom of students clapping and playing tambourine on the off-beat. The trouble is, we don't have enough tambourines, and some of the ones we have are broken.
To keep our percussion instruments in tip top shape, we need to make sure they have the proper protection. Therefore, I included in this project cases for instruments we have, to be sure none of them get broken in the years to come!
