This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a wonderful school with amazing children. Our school is in a low-income/high poverty school district. The majority of our students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. Almost 80% of the students in our school are English Language Learners who are eager to learn and become fluent in English. Our students are smart, hard workers, and enjoy learning. I know that given the right tools my students will succeed.

I would like to be able to provide my students with a set of reading books that they can relate to and enjoy.

My Project

The majority of my students are reading below grade level, so I always encourage them to read more. I always choose interesting and fun books for them to read because I know that this is what will help them become better readers. The books I requested are the books that my students enjoy reading since they can relate to the characters and the stories. I realize that when a student is given a book that he or she likes, the student will start reading and will not stop until they finish it. I want my students to love and enjoy reading, and that is why I asked for help from kind and generous people like you.
