My students need classroom Chromebooks to increase their exposure to technology and to help give them the 21st Century skills that they need to succeed.
My students come from a high poverty, rural area, and because of that, face challenges both in and out of school. However, the school is a safe place in our community, and students come to school each day eager and ready to learn.
My students are dedicated, curious, and creative, each with unique passions that show through their school work.
They are artists, naturalists, tinkerers, and authors, and I want them to see that their strengths can take them far!
My Project
I teach Science, Social Studies, and Computer Sciences to our middle school students, and I try to incorporate technology into our daily lessons. With both our Social Studies standards and the Next Generation Science Standards, students are expected to be able to use information tools (internet searching, researching, synthesizing information, etc.) effectively. Giving students increased access to technology helps us incorporate these skills into everyday lessons.
By having a classroom set of Chromebooks, students would be able to utilize technology tools like coding, mapping analysis software, Sketchup for Schools, online archives, and Google Drive to extend and enrich their learning.
They would be able to learn like the 21st Century students they are and develop the skills they need for their futures!
