Help me give my students a safe experience in the field collecting water, soil, and air quality data by providing them with lightweight, durable day packs which include a first aid kit and two-way radio.
This class is made up of a dynamic group of students from a variety of academic and cultural backgrounds.
These students are passionate about understanding the natural world and dream of making a difference by tackling the environmental issues we face today.
As 11th and 12th graders, many of my students are looking for opportunities and experiences that will help them chose a path for their future. I am hoping to provide them with experience conducting scientific investigations in the field and opportunities to engage in real-world science that may spark their interest in STEM careers.
My Project
Students in AP Environmental Science can engage in numerous laboratory investigations that provide them an opportunities to venture outside. Experience collecting data in the field cannot truly be replicated in the classroom.
Transporting testing equipment to the field prevents a challenge when students are working in small, independent groups.
This project will help me provide my students with field packs that can transport testing and safety equipment to ensure that my students have access to the materials they need while they venture outdoors. Each day pack will have ample room to carrying scientific equipment as well as a first aid kit and two-way radio to keep in contact with me throughout the investigation as I travel between individual groups.
This project will benefit students enrolled in the AP Environmental Science course this year and for many years to come.
