My students need the sort and store book totes to protect our classroom books when checking out books to take home. This will allow students to continue their love for reading at home.

My Students
We are a title I school that serves a diverse group of students. The majority of my students in my class come from low-income families. We practice reading and writing workshop and Cognitively Guided Instruction math. The implementation of these practices have allowed my students to fall in love with learning.
I have 30 vibrant Kindergarten students in my classroom, who are energetic, creative, and ambitious.
It truly amazes me how positive, persistent, and eager my students are. We love to make up songs and dances for the things we learn.
I have a variety of learners ...English language learners, students with special needs, students who are below, at or above grade level. BUT, the one thing they have in common is their love for learning!
My Project
Reading is our jam! Reading is so important in fostering my young readers’ imagination, language development, and academic success. Although we read at school, I am trying to make the school-home connection, so that students will read more at home. Currently half of my students are reading below grade level.
I would love for my students to continue to grow as avid readers, who enjoy reading in the classroom and at home.
I am hoping my students will be able to take more books home and improve their reading skills.
I have discussed with parents the importance of reading and ask that they read every night for 15-20 minutes, whether it’s the student reading or the parent. Most of my students do not have books at home and borrow books from our classroom library.
Having the totes will allow students to choose books from our classroom library to take home and read with their families.
