Reading is our jam! Reading is so important in fostering my young readers’ imagination, language development, and academic success. Although we read at school, I am trying to make the school-home connection, so that students will read more at home. Currently half of my students are reading below grade level. I would love for my students to continue to grow as avid readers, who enjoy reading in the classroom and at home. I am hoping my students will be able to take more books home and improve their reading skills. I have discussed with parents the importance of reading and ask that they read every night for 15-20 minutes, whether it’s the student reading or the parent. Most of my students do not have books at home and borrow books from our classroom library. Having the totes will allow students to choose books from our classroom library to take home and read with their families.
